Camp Staff Application and Training – Non-UGA Staff – Basketball

In order to work a camp at the University of Georgia all UGA employees who work camp must submit this application, consent to a background check sent to an email provided by you (via UGA Human Resources), and complete the camp training below.


TRAINING

As of the Summer of 2017, the University of Georgia has enacted a Minors on Campus Policy pursuant to guidelines released by the University System of Georgia. This policy requires all camp staff members to be provided training in the following areas:

  1. Mandatory Reporting Information
  2. UGA’s Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy
  3. Camp Staff Code of Conduct.

INDIVIDUAL ASSOCIATED WITH CURRENT AND RECRUITING PROSPECTIVE STUDENT-ATHLETES:

In accordance with NCAA Division I rules, NCAA Bylaw 13.12.2.2.3, in basketball, an institution or staff member shall not employ (either on a volunteer or paid basis) an individual associated with a current or recruited prospective student-athlete (“IAWRP”) at the institution’s camp or clinic. The prohibition on camp employment applies:

  1. To any individual who has an association with a current student-athlete who has been enrolled at the University of Georgia less than 24 months, or
  2. To any individual who has an association with a prospect (e.g. high school, two-year college or prep student) who is being recruited by the University of Georgia.

13.12.2.2.3 Individual Associated With a Recruited Prospective Student-Athlete — Basketball. In basketball, an institution or staff member shall not employ (either on a volunteer or paid basis) an individual associated with a recruited prospective student-athlete at the institution’s camp or clinic, unless at least two years (24 months) have elapsed since the prospective student-athlete’s initial full-time enrollment at the institution.

As a reminder, student-athletes may receive medical treatment and attend academic appointments on a required day off. These activities do not count toward daily or weekly hour limits (CARA).

Reminder: Student-athletes may not receive payment from any source for his/her complimentary admissions and may not exchange or assign them for any item of value. Also, family members and friends who have been assigned tickets may not sell or exchange them either!

With the NFL season kicking off this week, remember that all sports wagering activities are prohibited for all student-athletes and UGA Athletics Staff. This includes fantasy football, survivor pools, etc.
