Opting Out Form

The purpose of this document is to memorialize our previous conversations and to provide a concrete framework for support and, if applicable, eventual reintegration into the program. The following Opt-Out Plan for our student-athletes details specific expectations and support service access information for student-athletes who maintain enrollment at UGA and remain in good standing. If you decide not to maintain enrollment at UGA or are no longer in good standing (e.g. render yourself ineligible, violate teams rules, etc.), certain benefits and support services may not be available.

Your athletically-related financial aid may not be canceled, reduced, or non-renewed solely based on your decision to opt-out of athletics participation during the 2020-2021 academic year due to COV-19 health and safety considerations. The Athletic Association will continue to honor your athletic scholarship under the terms of your agreement, so long as you remain enrolled as a full-time student at UGA and comply with all NCAA, SEC, UGA, Athletic Association, and team regulations.*

Athletics Association Support Services
Opting out of athletic participation during the 2020-21 academic year will impact ancillary services and benefits incidental to participation and provided by the Athletic Association. Please reach out if you have any questions about services or benefits not listed. It is your responsibility to stay in touch with your coaching staff to inform us of your needs or additional support that you would like for us to take into consideration. Please click the button to confirm your understanding of the statements.
Athletic Association Support Services maintained during the opt-out period: (1) Sports Medicine under parameters defined by Sports Medicine (2) Behavioral Medicine Care and Support via telemedicine (3) Academic Support for UGA coursework (e.g., academic counseling, tutoring, and learning support) (4) Student Development Services (e.g., Georgia Way Programs) (5) Nutrition Education and Support via telemedicine.*

Athletic Association Support Services suspended during the opt-out period: (1) Meals/nutritional supplements (Grab-and-go snacks, training table, meals incidental to participation) (2) Facility use (e.g., sport-specific facilities, strength & conditioning) (3) Complimentary tickets – in own sport (if applicable).*

As a reminder, student-athletes may receive medical treatment and attend academic appointments on a required day off. These activities do not count toward daily or weekly hour limits (CARA).

Reminder: Student-athletes may not receive payment from any source for his/her complimentary admissions and may not exchange or assign them for any item of value. Also, family members and friends who have been assigned tickets may not sell or exchange them either!

With the NFL season kicking off this week, remember that all sports wagering activities are prohibited for all student-athletes and UGA Athletics Staff. This includes fantasy football, survivor pools, etc.
